Membership

CIRPA offers four types of memberships, each different in cost and benefits. The membership runs from July 1st of any calendar year until June 30th of the following year. Membership in the Association can be transferred under special circumstances within the first half of the membership year.

The Individual Membership and Limited Membership types are available to individuals working in or interested in supporting institutional research, planning, management, and policy-making in post-secondary education.

New for the 2026-27 membership year, the Institutional Membership benefits are similar to an Individual Membership and provides a cost-effective way for Canadian post-secondary institutions to include more employees in the Association. Institutional Memberships are based on student Full Time Equivalent (FTE) count for the most recent academic year. The Full Time Equivalent calculation is based on student headcounts as a total number of full-time students plus the sum of part-time students calculated by a pre-defined fraction of time they are estimated to spend in the classroom. Please use the standard Statistics Canada calculation of FTE= FT+(PT/3.5). This membership allows for unlimited memberships within a Canadian post-secondary institution.

Individual and Institutional memberships offer the greatest number of benefits, including eligibility to purchase a registration to the annual conference. To be able to attend the conference, limited members are required to purchase an Individual or Institutional membership.

Student Members: Student membership is available only to individuals who are registered in a post-secondary education program, are not employed full-time, and who have applied and been accepted for student membership in CIRPA. Student members are eligible to purchase a registration to the annual conference.

Emeritus Members: Emeritus membership is a lifetime membership awarded by nomination or application for members who have been active participants in CIRPA-ACPRI and have or will soon be retiring. This is both a recognition of the individual’s support and an opportunity to maintain a connection with the Association. Benefits include free annual membership (with access to discussion boards and communications), volunteer opportunities, and a discounted conference registration rate.
