2022 – Burnaby

We are excited to announce that the 2022 CIRPA conference, The Evolution of IRP – New Directions in Post-Secondary Education, will be a hybrid event (October 23 – 25) with options to attend in-person or online.

After two years of virtual conferencing, the CIRPA Board is thrilled to welcome back in-person networking at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown – a four-star hotel located on McKay Avenue in the heart of Metrotown, Burnaby. The hotel is situated next to the iconic Metrotown mall, considered one of the top five malls in Canada. There are a multitude of restaurants, shopping, and exciting nightlife just steps or a short SkyTrain ride away.

Conference co-chairs Kristi Hoffman (UBC) and Zareen Naqvi (SFU) are busy arranging CIRPA’s first hybrid conference, which offers the return of safe networking opportunities as well as online access to those unable to travel.

This year we are looking to the future as we celebrate the evolving landscape of institutional research and planning, and the innovative and creative work occurring in post-secondary institutions across Canada and beyond.

Registration is open.

Burnaby prides itself on being a diverse city in the Greater Vancouver area. It is located minutes from downtown Vancouver in the center of the Burrard Peninsula, with the cities of Port Moody and Coquitlam to the east, New Westminster and Surrey across the Fraser River to the southeast, and Richmond to the southwest. The main campuses of Simon Fraser University and British Colombia Institute of Technology (BCIT) – two large post-secondary institutions in B.C. – are located in Burnaby. It is home to a number of high-tech companies, start-ups and research hubs. It is also a fun and happening city for cultural activities and dining options.

The city’s neighbourhoods range from the busy Metrotown area, to the newly developed Lougheed Town Centre, to the beautiful Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area and pristine Deer and Burnaby lakes. It is within easy access to Whistler Blackcomb and Northshore mountains (Cypress, Seymour and Grouse resorts), and Canada’s adventure capital – Squamish. Many adventures and pleasure activities await you should you wish to venture farther afield before or after the conference.

We are excited for you to join us in Burnaby for CIRPA 2022! We look forward to offering a great conference in a big, busy, exhilarating city, with so much to see and do.
