Additional Networking Opportunities

Spend Sunday afternoon networking with colleagues familiar and new during one of CIRPA’s optional Winnipeg Tours!

Options 1A and 1B: Coach Tour to Assiniboine Park

Departing on the CIRPA coach at 1:30 pm, take in the fall colours and enjoy one of the many highlights of our 1100-acre urban greenspace – Assiniboine Park! The group will split for about an hour for your choice of a guided tour “Journey to Churchill” to see the tundra animals, or self-directed exploration of horticultural biomes and butterfly garden at The Leaf.

Your afternoon will conclude with the opportunity to stroll through the Diversity Gardens and view the recently gifted 21-metre-tall totem pole by Kwakiutl artist Charles Joseph. Weather permitting, you’ll share some light refreshments in the Kitchen Garden before returning to the Delta for approximately 4:30 pm.

Option 1A) Journey to Churchill ($43)

During your guided tour of this award-winning exhibit, you’ll meet many tundra animals including some of the permanent residents of the Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Centre. Viewing this 10-acre exhibit you’ll see and learn about our arctic foxes, caribou, muskoxen, snowy owls, and wolves. Additionally, the Sea Ice Passage underwater viewing tunnels get you up close and personal with the polar bears and seals!

Option 1B) The Leaf ($26)

Immerse yourself in vibrant displays of colour, texture, and fragrance in the botanical biomes! The rainforest-like tropical biome brims with lush greenery and is home to Canada’s tallest indoor waterfall and a peaceful koi pond. In the Mediterranean Biome you’ll find plants from Greece, Italy, South Africa, Australia, Chile, and California – a mosaic of colour, texture and fragrance that reaches its peak during the winter months. From six stories up the Butterfly Biome provides a beautiful view of the park, and an opportunity to interact with some of the most beautiful insects in the world.

Option 2: Walking Tour ($18)

Departing from the Delta at 1:30 pm your local CIRPA host will escort you to iconic National Historic Site, The Forks, where two great rivers meet at the heart of the continent connecting the prairies to the world.

Your tour starts with an introduction to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. This fully accessible and bilingual museum has ten core galleries including the permanent Truth and Reconciliation exhibit. View some or all of the informative and inspiring exhibitions at your leisure – but be sure not to miss the 360-degree view from the top of the Tower of Hope!

At 4:00 pm your local CIRPA host will guide those wishing to return to the Delta together. If you’d prefer to spend extra time at the Forks you are more than welcome to do so! Perhaps you’d like to try something at the eclectic Forks Market which features a range of local food and beverages. There’s also the Riverwalk, Promenade, Oodena Celebration Circle, and Johnston Terminal to explore – just don’t forget to return in time to join us for the President’s Reception!
