Hamilton is a major port city in Ontario known as “Steeltown” or “the Hammer” for its heavy industrial roots, and as the “Waterfall Capital of the World”. Hamilton is located between Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment bisecting the city into ‘upper’ and ‘lower’ parts. We encourage you to spend some time and visit our host community. We have highlighted below a few things that you can check out on your own.

*Art Gallery of Hamilton is the oldest and largest art museum in the region with a permanent collection that is recognized as one of the finest in Canada. Embracing Canadian historical, international, and contemporary art, the collection consists of just under 12,000 works.

Canadian Football Hall of Fame celebrates achievements in Canadian football. It is maintained by the Canadian Football League.

Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s mandate is to acquire, document, preserve and maintain a complete collection of aircraft flown by Canadians and the Canadian military from the beginning of WWII to the present. The museum now houses almost 50 aircrafts.

Dundurn Castle National Historic Site was once home to Sir Allan Napier MacNab, a railway magnate, lawyer and Premier of the United Canadas (1854-1856), and his family. Today Dundurn Castle tells the story of the family who lived above stairs and the household staff who lived and worked below stairs. Her Majesty, Queen Camilla is the museum’s Patron and the great, great, great granddaughter of Sir Allan MacNab.

*Hamilton Convention Centre is a newly renovated venue located across the street from our host hotel and next door to the Art Gallery of Hamilton.

*Niagara Escarpment is 725kms starting in Niagara Falls going through Hamilton and all the way to Tobermory, Ontario. It’s more than 450 million years old and a UNESCO World Biosphere. The Bruce Trail runs through it making it Canada’s longest footpath. For delegates interested in sightseeing the Niagara Escarpment, we will do so on the Sunday (separate fee from your conference registration fee).

*Royal Botanical Gardens is Canada’s largest botanical garden with gardens and nature sanctuary that span Hamilton and Burlington, Ontario. The RBG is part of the Niagara Escarpment UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve playing a vital role in this region protecting and preserving 2,100+ acres of environmentally sensitive areas.
