Institutional Membership

The Institutional Membership benefits are similar to an Individual Membership and provides a cost-effective way for Canadian post-secondary institutions to include more employees in the Association. Institutional Memberships are based on student Full Time Equivalent (FTE) count for the most recent academic year. The Full Time Equivalent calculation is based on student headcounts as a total number of full-time students plus the sum of part-time students calculated by a pre-defined fraction of time they are estimated to spend in the classroom. Please use the standard Statistics Canada calculation of FTE= FT+(PT/3.5). This membership allows for unlimited memberships within a Canadian post-secondary institution.

One employee at a Canadian post-secondary institution will need to sign up for and purchase the Institutional Membership type. That individual becomes the main contact for the institution and will be responsible for adding other individuals to their Institutional Membership.

If your institution is already a member, please send an email to your institution’s primary contact shown in the search above. They can add you to the membership so you can begin enjoying your benefits immediately. Alternatively, individuals from the institution can contact cirpa@cirpa-acpri.ca and request to be added under the Institutional Membership. Individuals who wish to be included under an Institutional Membership must sign up using their institutional email address.

Yes, every registered member under the Institutional Membership type will be able to vote in CIRPA elections and the Annual General Meeting. Prior to the inclusion of an Institutional Membership, Canadian post-secondary institutions were able to purchase unlimited Individual Memberships for their employees, all of whom had voting rights.
