As institutions make decisions about how much flexibility students should have when answering survey questions, careful consideration should be given when allowing students to not respond to questions. This presentation will examine the impacts of various ways of allowing respondents voluntary non-responses, specifically focusing on data quality and groups that may be more susceptible to non-response bias, using data from the CUSC-CCREU 2022 Survey of First Year Students.
